Numerical analysis of electro-convection in dielectric liquids with residual conductivity

Injection-induced electro-convection (EC) of dielectric liquids is a fundamental problem in electrohydrodynamics. However, most previous studies with this type EC assume that the liquid perfectly insulating. By insulating, we mean an ideal zero conductivity, and situation, free charges bulk originate entirely from injection ions. In study, perform numerical analysis certain residual conductivity based on dissociation–injection model. The spatiotemporal distributions flow field, electric positive/negative charge density parallel plate configuration are solved utilizing finite volume method. It found inhibits onset flow, as well strength field. features bifurcations studied various scenarios three different strengths strong, medium, weak regimes. Three distinct bifurcation sequences abundant observed by continually increasing or decreasing Reynolds number. present study shows significantly affects process corresponding critical point flows.
